Papering question

Okay so I understand how the levels work, but I don't understand what *Gold means.
Aye Gilded Spear
I am quite proud of this little filly, my first gold papered at an 11.50 PT score. She will be a wonderful contributor to show horses once she is of age.
@pfruse I thought you'd like to see PFR Aldebaran's filly. Thank you again for the straw. :)~☼~Welcome to Burnt Hill Creek Farm

Like Maribo said, Gold is the highest and is roughly equivalent to Star papering in stallions.
Unlike PT scores, which continue to rise as your horses increase in Showing Ability, the papering system tops out at Gold/Star. However, if you have a strict breeding program and work hard, your horses will continue to improve in Breeding Ability within the Gold/Star level. It is definitely harder work though!
Congratulations on hitting this benchmark! I remember how excited I was when I bred my first Star and my first Gold! It’s so exciting! And then when you breed your first “homebred” Gold all from your own lines! So much fun! -
Congratulations!De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

She's a very nice filly! I'm glad my stallion did well for you. :)

Okay so looking at the lineage of this filly. She obviously is gold papered, but why is there an asterisk (*) in front and then there are some that have a + behind their status, what is that for?~☼~Welcome to Oak Branch Stables

The asterisk is for star and gold designations, since they are the highest you can get. On the pedigree/family page the + indicates that her lineage is too long to fit on the page. Towards the top of the pedigree box is a link that says View Full Pedigree. Click that to see the sires and mares from further back in her lineage.
