Gen 4 yellow papered
  • So when I saw this filly I was extremely happy with her, especially when she passed BA. Only to paper yellow. I can’t keep her in my breeding program without at least being a red, but then how did she pass BA if she papered lower than both parents?

With a PT of 10, does that mean she’s unlikely to even be useful as a pretty show horse?
  • Maybe her parents are low B/Red and she is high yellow. PT of 10 isn’t bad for a show horse. Most perfect foundations are 9.9 and an ex perf foundation is 10.4 She would do well as a show pony
Watercolor, Chinchilla, Axiom, Nexus, Wrong Warp, Nacre, Ice 5/8, Satin and Pearl
  • She's a lovely filly, but shows the reliance on just BA and just using intact as a benchmark, so no improvements in lines. Her parents would be no better than the original foundations they go back to.

Using BA they can pass and be worse than parents, using SBA they have to at least be as good as, however I think they can still be a fraction worse and still pass
  • I didn’t breed either of her parents but that probably doesn’t make much difference. Unfortunately I don’t have access to SBA as I won’t allow myself to spend real money on the game :/
Oh well I’ll throw her in the show barn for now. Or she can join my unevenly bred herd that might be used to bootstrap when I have more barn space in the future.
  • Yeh fair enough, she can still be a pretty show pony, I have PT's around 10 still making plenty of money!
  • PT does not indicate how good of a Show Horse a horse will be. It indicates roughly how long a horse will train for.

Low PT horses don’t earn as much per training session so it takes them longer to move up the ranks meaning they will most likely be in a better position to earn points throughout their life time in each level before leveling up to the next level. They will not reach the highest ranks before completely leveling off but will have collected points along the way to add to your daily show bonus. They will level off earlier.

High PT horses earn more per training session so may find it difficult to land in a profitable spot in each level before leveling up. Therefore they sort of rocket up the levels without earning much in the way of points (especially if they are one of the unlucky ones that place last in each level but add enough points to their show score to level up into last place of the next level) the flip side is that they will make it to higher levels and bigger shows so they will make up the points faster at that time. They will level off later (roughly when their age reaches their PT score.)

There are horses with high PT scores that make terrible show horses. There are horses with low PT scores that are rockstars in the ring.

Which is why it is always suggested to keep a wide range of PT’s in your show herd. The lower PT horses cover for the higher PT horses until they find their legs and get earning points.

I never judge a horse on how good of a show horse they are going to be until after they have leveled off
  • That’s all interesting to know, thank you. I didn’t even have a show barn until a couple of weeks ago so I probably shouldn’t be picky about my show herd right now haha
  • Dayum, that's a bit of a step back, pretty looking horse but that paper is so so low. You could always chuck her in your bootstrap line if you have one, or she'd make a decent show pony. If you don't have any attachments to her parents I'd snip them too.

I don't really breed for dun, but I could potentially replace your G3 mare with a liver, potentially het snowflake mare?

    III Dark Brood

I was going to keep this one as a surrogate and brood prospect but you could have her. She past SBA so she's either a 2g Red or a high red. She should be het snowflake too.

    III Squeak By Fine

Or you could have this one, potentially het snowflake (haven't checked), past SBA and blue papered. Has thrown two decent foals.

  • I think I will be snipping her sire for sure as his 3 other foals all failed BA. The mare I can’t find any other foals for so hers last season must have gone the same way.
I’d be happy to buy either of those mares off you @Bourbon, I appreciate the offer and love the look of that Appaloosa. I don’t have many breedable 2G and 3G girls so could definitely use a replacement!
  • It might have been a bit of a bad breeding result with your stallion, but having that paring make a yellow would have been the end of his balls for me. On the bright side at least you have some new additions to the show herd?

Check buddy, I've popped them both up for you! Hopefully they'll throw something OK.

  • Aww thank you very much!
Just Desserts will be getting his just desserts it seems, there’s that many quality colts out there that it shouldn’t be too difficult to replace him so a gelding he shall be.
  • I have several 3g A papered Colts i'd be happy to give you. They've all passed SBA.

  • Thank you for the offer Haltanny, I do like the look of that buckskin pearl boy. But I’m trying to stick to DP so I’m hoping my upcoming 2nd gen mares give me a couple of decent colts. This breeding season I have a lot of horses reaching breeding age so if I’m patient I might be able to breed my own A boys in chocolate or liver!
  • The buckskin pearl is het DP, his sire is Hom DP with both parents being freaky Fridays. ;)
    #28036
  • He’s EE so can’t breed me chocolates but I think you might have convinced me anyway haha. How much would you like for him?
  • He's up in my buddy chat for you. Call it a gift. :D

  • You’re lovely, thank you :)
