AGA to 4th gen boy...

I was narrowing down my 4th gen boys. They all tested superior to their sites but AGA to my 4th gen boy benchmark. How do I narrow it down even further? I gelded all my boys that were AGA to their sires.
I am only wanting 4 boys per gen.

I would start gelding based on genes and high PT scores. Geld the higher PT's to add to your show string and geld any boy based on his genes you don't think you will use.

Geld the colours you're not going to use. No point in keeping stallions you're not going to use since you prefer another one's colour over them.
For example if I had stallions who were AGA each other and the colours were dark bay, a chestnut, a sooty buckskin or a grey. I'd geld the grey, geld the chestnut and then go through each boys genes between the Dark bay and Sooty buckskin. I breed for both, but it would come down to who I like more.#4519 -

Well you could further cull on who has your favourite colours (or preferred height/bone etc), but if you want to find the best one you need a tie-breaker stallion to compare to LOL. So do you know who your absolute best 3rd gen stallion is? Is so I would compare them all to him. I usually compare to what I call my benchmark sire rather than their sire if it helps be narrow my boys down. You said you have a 4th gen benchmark boy, so do you have a gen4 that you know of that is either better or worse than him, it may not be by much but comparing to something that bit worse might help you narrow down the boys you have left. It's very unlikely they are all exactly the same as there is a lot of swing in "as good as". I wouldn't cull on PT, unless something is particularly low due to inconsistency. Although culling the high PT ones makes sense I guess for better show horses

Do I compare them to my star 5th gen boy. My 3rd gen benchmark passed away 2 years ago. I don't kbow how to find another one. A friend graciously gave me him as a gift.
