GMT Mare to Stallion question
-
I have a Bring Back The Sun horse that is four years old and unbred, I am wondering if I GMT this mare into a stallion will I have to take it through free testing again? If so, because the horse is a rank special, will it be guaranteed to pass testing intact? I'm curious because, correct me if I'm wrong, Bring Back The Sun horses are perfect foundation horses which leads me to think that even if I switch the gender the horse should still have 100% breeding and 100% showing ability.

That is my understanding--that you would have to put him through GA and papering but since it's a Rank Special he will pass and paper C. But someone more senior should confirm! Please!

(I have heard of lined horses passing MA and failing GA or vice versa...)

I thought I might be correct but I wanted to ask. Thank you! :)

I have a mare, that I GMT'ed from a stallion. She papered 'C' as a stallion, and still shows that papering. She only has two foals, so I am waiting until I breed her next season, to see if she shows up for papering as a mare, and her stallion papering gets replaced. She did show up for MA and passed though.

The mare that I GMT'ed into a stallion didn't show up for testing in Gelding Advice nor SAT. I did send him through stallion testing and received a papering at "C" level.
