Introducing: The Valkyrie! A Brindle Snowflake Filly
-
I was introduced to the wonderful world of snowflakes by a surprise snow-covered foal from my late, great SPX Gillywater, an unassuming black splash sport pony. I had admired snowflakes nearly since I began playing, but I told myself not to fall down the slippery slope of limited edition genes. (A resolution which weakens every time Watercolor goes up for sale.) My snowy herd grows a little each month, thanks to the kindness of other players selling eggs, straws, and stock. Each horse in my snowflake herd exists thanks to the goals, ambitions, and kindness of other HaJ players.
I’ve never created a foundation snowflake before, but once I “spotted” this appaloosa Better Brindle Breakout for sale in conjunction with the awesome GMT lab sale, I knew: It Was Time.
Introducing the beautiful, brindle, exceptionally perfect filly who has stolen my heart:
The Valkyrie
This is my snowflake story, and I would love to know yours!
Who was/is your first snowflake? How do they influence your current herd?
Do you select for certain colors, or is coat color secondary to Lp and snow for you?
If this was your filly, how would you GMT her further?
I am considering adding a second Lp, to guarantee all her foals the best chances to show snow. Adding dun to make her a red dun has also been entertained, although chestnut goes with everything.
Last, but certainly not least... show me your matches made in heaven. Who would you ideally breed her Does he carry snowflake? Is he an exceptional producer? Is he your heart horse with a 3.2 Inconsistent PT but you just love his color? What makes him special to you? Valkyrjur like to evaluate their men thoroughly ; ) She promises not to drag anyone off to Valhalla, but keep a close eye on your boys, just in case.
As soon as they are available to harvest, I will offer eggs, so look for that post in October. I am looking forward to sharing this cutie’s genes with the wonderful snowflake community that has shared so much with me.
Words cannot properly convey the excitement I feel about this filly! Thank you for reading and sharing : ) -
Shes beautiful! Put me down for an egg when she ages up please :)God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time.

When I first started the game I bred two hidden snowflake carriers with each other and had a snowflake baby. I didn't have the barn space at the time and the baby and mare didn't fit in my breeding herd so I put them up in auction (Not knowing about snowflake)....It wasn't until I saw someone post my baby and mare on a forum post that I realised snowflake was something special but by that time it was too late.... I lost them to the highest bidder.
It made me aware of snowflake and I was so happy when I was able to purchase two of my own snowflake boys...I would 100% make your baby hom Llp...The pain to breed my boys to het snowflake mares and then not knowing if they were hom snowflake killed me.
I was also luck enough to be the first person on HJ2 to get a hom snowflake boy from a regular create. Unfortunately I didn't collect any straws from before giving him away to another player (As I was taking a long break from the game) and they passed him onto another player (which is now a dead account)......but oh well, theses things happen-I wish there was a way of rescuing the pixel ponies.
One of my original boys has since passed and the other isn't too far off but I love seeing their babies and their babies babies all over the place.
This season I managed to get two new boys for my breeding herd and I can't wait till they start producing some hom snowflake babies for me :D
I would breed your girl with my Exceptional boy "Neve" and hopefully make beautiful Hom snowflake Blue/A papered babies ...Exceptional eggs are hard to come by.

Eee! She's one of my girls! "Wayfinder" is one of my side-accounts, you see. The snowflakes look fantastic on her.
May she give you a hundred SBA-passing foals!ID: 45055
Once I have entered horses into the auction, I do not remove them.Thanked by 1Riata -
She looks lovely, Riata! I'd breed her to my soon-to-be hom snowflake Hidden Gates stallion. ;)ID# 25784 Home of quality Artylian Drafts & Cobs

My first foray into snowflake was this guy. I won a straw from Bourbon in a contest and I bought an egg from Raintree to put with it. Since then, I'm always on the lookout for snowflakes for sale or auction.
DP 2B Space Cowboy s
Just recently learned that this guy carries snowflake. He's a Meteoric Milestone son and I was really proud of him before I learned that. Now, I'm planning breedings with het or hom mares so I can get a good line established before he passes.
As to who I'd breed her to, a black liver snowflake would be cool. That way, you'd get liver chestnut snowflakes. That is one of my favorite combos :)Thanked by 1Riata -
Thank you, everyone!
CeffylDwr, I will make sure when the times comes that you and anyone else who wants one, gets one. Depending on how many eggs she yields her first month, I will probably put a few of her first eggs up for forum auction, and do a giveaway for others. If I don’t get many eggs in October, the forum auction will be pushed back to November, but it will happen.
Goobanni, I am so glad you had a second chance at snowflake. We all have That Teaching Moment in the game, but ouch, sometimes it’s a painful lesson. One of my first snowflakes was from you, and I was so excited that you were willing to share such awesome genetics with me! The future power couple of Neve and The Valkyrie have great plans for a very snowy fall ; )
Ragtatter, thank you SO much for selling her <3 I was creeping the sales lists for brindle, and saw her spotted little bum. When I clicked on her and saw she was BETTER Brindle Breakout, my brain was like: “An *appy* BBB? For less than the cost of a single GMT token? Sold! ....Spots... snowflake... GMT lab sale... Oh! I could put snowflake on her! How many foals will I need to auction?” <br />
BlueValley, I look forward to meeting your Hidden Gates stud when he’s all done : )
Devil’s Paradise, your horses are so handsome! I love loud leopards, so I would have been extra-excited to see AGoodRunOfBadLuck come out with so many freckles. Space Cowboy is a stunner, and I hope you can get some more nice snowflake foals from him. -
Your filly is beautiful! I love the brindle and snowflake pattern, it’s stunning! My first snowflake was quite the accident haha. I had always loved the snowflake gene since I first saw it but I could never afford to gmt a Foundation for myself and buying even a 2G hom colt/filly was, at the beginning, completely out if my price range. So I kept on with my own breeding with the intention of, one day, buying my own snowflake foal or buying a few straws when they were more in my price range. Then a few months ago, an accidental breeding between a mare and stallion I owned. The result was this filly:
SA City Of Millions snf
She was terribly uneven and inconsistent to boot haha. I tossed her in my barns to be auctioned off and, by chance, went to enter a few other baby’s in the breeders club. I tend to click on all the clubs and nearly fell over when she showed up as hom snowflake! I couldn’t even tell by looking at her. Going into her pedigree I realised her sire and great grandsire were both my very favourite stallion, this fellow:
SA Millionaire 2G het snf
Against all odds he’d passed his het snf gene down the line until it reached the filly. He is my main sire, my favourite, the stallion all my breeding revolves around and I had been, unknowingly breeding het snowflake into my lines with him for months. I had no idea he carried the gene until then! My snowflake line begun with his daughters, each of them put to hom stallions to reveal who carried the gene. Eventually my breeding lines gave me this boy. I consider him perfect. Millionaire will forever be my favourite by I consider this boy his ‘heir’ if you will lol. He has taken the best of Millionaire and improved on it:
SA Millionaires Luck G4 s
All the best with your lovely filly! If she was mine I’d find a brindle, DP, hom snf boy to breed her too and I’d def gmt the lp to give the best chance of snow ^^

Here's my first Snowflake and he was a total surprise. So far he's my best producing Snowflake as well. I really got lucky with him.

Glad you are able to join the snowflake team. :DThanked by 1Riata -
What a great story and a beautiful filly! I am still waiting for my first snowflake but it will be soon. I recently won the summer refresh contest Ammit hoasted and one of the genes I chose was snowflake. As I was trying to decide which horse to put it on and making some creates, I made this guy who absolutely took my breath away. Homozygous for brown, sooty, and appaloosa with the bonus of being heterozygous for DP! Sometime at the end of this week he will have his snowflake and show off in all his glory!
