Would this be a good idea?

I was thinking about completely restarting my show herd like selling pretty much all of my show horses and only keeping a handful of them. I didn’t really know if this was the best idea but I thought I’d get some opinions on this before I actually did it.EasternShowBarn

I think that too now knowing what I want but I auction off horses as I make creates or buy what I want and just slowly change my herd, but then again I'm broke I went crazy with my money making my herd once today is over with all the foals I have in auction I should be able to buy a few more horses I want. Depending what you have I might be interested in buying a few off you (probably tomorrow once I have more money)。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ ID #: 47760 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆

If you are revamping your show herd I would just auction off the lower pointed ones and keep your higher pointed horses.
Your show horses are your money makers which is why you don’t usuall see the big barns selling off their show stock very often (unless they’ve decided they are making too much money lol)
It’s always been a good practice to have 3 show horses for every breeding horse -
@ATouchOfGenetics I’ll probably start putting a bunch up either tonight or tomorrow.
@Bandit1119 about how many points is considered “lower”? I’ve sold and auctioned a bunch of 150 and lower but I still have a ton that are over that. 300? Maybe 400, 500?EasternShowBarn

That would depend on your goal you’ve set.
This account I don’t sell off show horses and I’m around 80k/day I think. I exchange most of my money for IV’s to buy another 1000 stall show barn whenever I can.
For my secondary account I fill my 3 barns with my highest pointed horses then send whatever is left over in the primary barn to the auction so the low end is fluid and moves depending on what keeper intact horses I also stick in a barn to keep from selling them. the cut off may be higher or lower. I’ve sold horses with up to 400 points but right now I think the cut off is about 137 last I looked but I do have a bunch of mares in the auction at the moment with up to 300 points that just don’t meet my breeding goals.
My account on hj1 I am currently selling off all home bred show horses aged 13-15years because my daily bonus is around 280-300k and I really only need 300k/ month. I am also trying to keep under 5000 show horses total but am not really keeping up selling show horses as fast as I breed them lol
Before the show system changed to be more affordable to show, I used to use the search and regularly go through each age group of show horses (I would spay almost all my mares after they had their 3 foals to qualify for papering so the 8+ year olds were all most all Show stock) starting with the oldest age and sort them by all time points and get rid of the bottom portion of each age bracket. When I was regularly doing this I noticed that there’d often be a gap sometimes quite small, others 50-100 or more points difference between the top 2/3rds or so and the bottom 1/3rd. I’d work through each age until I started to find horses that hadn’t leveled off yet. I wouldn’t cut any horse that was still training or placing in the top 1/2 of the class (thus making money) -
I'm a pretty notorious pixel pony hoarder. I generally sell foundations with PT's under 9, especially if they're also inconsistent, and inconsistent 2nd gens that also test with a low PT, but I can't say I'm terribly consistent about it.
Of course, I've been playing approaching 5 years this October in Haj2 and about 7 1/2 years in Haj1. I have over 2000 horses in this version, most of them in barns set to show. Most of them are foundations and under 4th gen. Today's report on my home page gives me 148,738hbs daily.
The other thing I do, thanks to this, is feel free to help out newer players with show horses with more than 700 points already. This gives me just as much satisfaction as playing with my breeding stock.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I’ve got a few up for sale and I started a forum post advertising the ones for sale! I figured I’d start out with anything under 400 and see where I go from thereEasternShowBarn
