Confusion on Ice Genes
-
I’m still very confused on the rules/workings of the ice gene. Is it a closed gene? If I breed and ice stud to one of my non ice mares will the offspring have ice gene too?
Thanks guys!! -
There are 14 different Ice genes. Some are restricted, some are not. If the gene is listed in orange in the gene sequence on the horses' page, it is restricted. If it is in black, it is not.
Ice is dominant, meaning it only needs one copy to show. If you breed a heterozygous ice horse (only one copy of ice) there is a 50% chance that the foal will inherit it.Thanked by 1Sunlit
