Lethal White Genes
-
Looking at the chart below, it shows that when breeding W3 and W3 together, it is a moderate risk. While breeding W10 and W10 together it is very risky. I thought the higher the number, the less risky it was? Or maybe I’m confusing it with something else.

This leads to the question of breeding these two horses together. Would it be considered too risky?

It is that the higher numbers are riskier, but lower numbered white genes have higher white factors.
Edit: that is to say, White 1 and White 2 have a higher risk with a hidden number of a white factors separate from the white factors listed in the gene test. :)
I think they'll be okay together, but I'm less experienced at counting white combinations. :) -
Yeah, there is no simple pneumonic to the white spotting genes unfortunately. In general I would say the higher numbers are less risky than white 1.... but all the Kit genes are less risky than white 1.
It’s really about how “white” the gene makes your horse. So, W1 and W2 and W10 all can really white out a horse at high White Factors. Their expression can be really high. And the way Ammit has explained it is basically the whiter the horse, the more broken it’s genes, the more likely there’s a break somewhere that actually involves a vital process. So you don’t want to breed such that you get all white horses, and breeding for mostly white is risky (remembering, of course, that Appy is the exception to this rule and appy isn’t governed by this).
So, if you want to mix risky Kit genes, make sure you’re not playing with a rigged deck. Make sure they don’t have splash or Frame, try to start with none or minimal White factor parents and cross your fingers,
All of that said, neither of your proposed parents are excessively white. Both of them have bodies that are at least half colored, so I’d go for it. Hoping you get the W10 to pass! It’s one of my favorite genes in the game!

Thank you both! I’ll give it a go, see what happens. I hope the studs extensive WF and the mares none WF balance each other out!
