Is there a way to still receive messages from hj2 but not the forum. I signed up to this site with my main email address - which wasn't smart in hindsight and bookmarked a topic earlier which ended up getting several comments. My phone was being pinged all day :)) I can just change my email address to a secondary one but wondered if there was another option.

Yes go to your profile and turn off email notifications.

Found it, thank you. I didn't realize how many different options there were for alerts, that's really handy. Glad to know it's there now.
