How to increase PT scores?
-
I am having an issue with moving forward with my PT scores. How does one get their horses to move forward in PT? Is their away to breed for higher PT scores?
-
As far as I can tell breed the highest to the highest you can and try to get them to be Consistent.
I GMTed a few of my foals from Inconsistent to Consistent and their PTs all went up by quite a bit. -
No, PT scores have nothing to do with breeding ability (well, it has to do with the breeding ability of the sire and dam). You have to have horses with high breeding ability to breed high PT horses. The highest paperes (*Gold and *Star) will give highest PTs. But there are many levels of *Gold and *Star, so you will have to breed the horse a few times (around 3 is good for mares, around 10 for stallions) to find their AFPT (average foal PT) to find out how good of a breeder they are. Then you breed your stallions and mares with the highest AFPT together to get higher PTs in your foals.
-
Also, consistency is good, as consistent horses will have a higher PT (and less chance of being snipped by testing), but you can GMT any inconsistent horse to be consistent, and the PT will go up to what it would have been if the horse was consistent. I don't -think- consistency has anything to do with their breeding ability, except for giving a greater chance of inconsistent foals, but I am not completely sure. I always GMT studs consistent, and only keep the very best of my inconsistent mares (high papered for their gen).

That means you are keeping subpar breeding stuck. Tighten up your culling standards. :)

Yep what Ammit said!!
Decide on a few goals to help the quality of your herd to improve, like all stallions have to be superior to sire, no yellow mares past foundation, no red mares past gen2 etc. Cull the mares with the lowest AFPT's once they have had a few foals. Just use whatever goals you think might help you. Just keeping horses that pass BA (or SBA) doesn't improve your herd. The better breeding horses will produce higher PT'sThanked by 1Lallyhop
