Naming Ideas

We have what seems to be a blue roan filly possibly paint that's four days old. I'm asking for some name suggestions if you have any for a barn name. Her dam is named Ashe or Ashley and her sires name is Doc. She has a almost circle star on her face and one cornet band I believe on her right side foreleg. It looks like she has a white spot on her belly.Breeding tobianos , and maybe some snazy colors, as a tribute to my papa.

Dash or Dashie might be cute!ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms -
I wait a month before I name our foals. That way you get to see their true personality. Plus I find I normally start calling them something along that month.
We breed about 2 to 8 foals a year. Then when we register them its a mix of their barn name and their breeding mixed in.
Have fun with it, go with the flow.
Here are a few of my favorite.
Hawk On A Hot Tin Roof (high steppen deep red gelding)
Goose By Night (she loves the goose,so we call her goosey)
Lady Red Derest (she a true lady, bloodline to derest line and she a firey red flex liver chestnut)
Lampoon (he is a cremello. Lampoon means shining light)
Dont force it. You find that their name will come. In the mean time enjoy the foal stage.

I breed dogs, and I do the same waiting games with puppies I keep. I wait till their personalities come out. (I do give them "crib names" - just something short to call them to tell them apart when they are babies.)
Sometimes, it seems they tell you their names - you just kinda know after a while. -
Oh yeah I know, we've breed horses most of my life. Used to we would have at least a dozen babies a year. She's the only one now though. We've downsized quite a bit since we lost my grandpa. We do registered names as a combo of the sire and dams registered names. Doc is the sires barn name while his registered is Poco Gold Doc. The dam isn't registered, we didn't breed her and she's a bay roan so no chance of color papers. Our barn names are usually pretty unique to the horse but we've always looked at name suggestions and such before giving barn names. We've got Doc, Ashe (which my mom slipped into calling ashley), and fancy.Breeding tobianos , and maybe some snazy colors, as a tribute to my papa.

Queenie, Latte, Dream or Dreamer.

Not sure if it fits, but the name I thought of was Artemis. She is the patron goddess of fertility and childbirth, tying in with the sire's name of Doc, she is associated with the moon which ties in with the circle mark on her forehead, and because of that connection to the moon she is often depicted at night which ties into her possible color of blue roan. No matter what, she sounds adorable.Thanked by 1Lallyhop
