Genetics explanation please?

With so much going on with this cutie I'm wondering why he is white! I've tried rerolling the picture to no avail, and it got me thinking about what would cause this

I'd say that the culprit is the w20! W20 increases the amount of white on a horse so that, even though this foal has a medium WF, his W2 is going crazy. However even if he didn't have the W20, he'd still be mostly covered in white, like this horse here:
3 Three Clicks
There are some horses like your boy, genetic wise, that do have some colours peeking through. So maybe if you get lucky on a reroll you might get some spots (he's a leopard under all that so it would just be spots. And remember that the reroll is found on the upgrade page and isn't the circle icon under a horses image!)

W2, W20, and Splash all together with a medium white factor adds up to a lot of white. I've gotten a white foal from that combo too, it's one of the reasons I don't like W2 very much. I love LP and kit M patterns, and too many white factors with them washes everything away as completely as grey does, only faster. lolJusta ~ ID# 44842

I wonder if I gmt his white factor down , would it make a difference?
-
Im not sure, but I wouldn’t count on it making a ton of difference. He’s got a lot of white going on.
-
I just want just a teeny bit of his silver black appy to show through, not a tone just a hint of what he holds. But I'm not sure if I can or should remove anything other than lowering the white factor. Maybe remove the w20 if possible? I'm not sure. Hes still got the benefit of being a cutie pie! I just love silver black too!

Well, the w20 on mom’s allele can be swapped for roan. Which would help tone down the expression of the w2.Thanked by 1StarWorld92

Swapping the W20 for Wr will probably help. If you can afford 2 GMT's reducing the white factor to Minimal would probably help.
Here's a W2 Sps with minimal WF to give you an idea.

Speaking of w2 and w20:
Silver Mishap
What’s with the light peachy tan color under her belly? The second horse Obsidian linked has bay, so I would guess his similar markings are just bay showing through, but no such luck on mine here. Anyone with sharper eyes want to point out what I’m missing?ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

I think it's the shadow under the stifle that darkens a horse with pigment there, but looks a bit weird on white horses. The shadow appears to be variable in shape, but you can see the effect on the horse that started this thread as well.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
