True breeding white horse?
-
I've been toying with the idea of making a true breeding line of white horses.
I'm thinking that the easiest way to go about this without tangling with any potentially lethal genes would be horses that are homozygous for Grey, Cream, and Sabino 1. Does this sound like a good plan, or is there an easier way I'm overlooking?ID: 45055
Once I have entered horses into the auction, I do not remove them. -
Gray would override the cream anyhow. The horses would start out a dark gray as well. You could look at:
No sooty cremellos.
Hom appy horses tend to have a very large blanket, sometimes covering the entire body
Hom Sabino with a large WF. Maybe throw in some splash as well for good measure.
Dun might be a good gene to throw in as well, to try and keep things like if the horses don't end up hom Ccr.
These are all ideas for horses that are ee though. If you want to get light horses with an E base add in silver as well.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable. -
Are you sure about grey overriding creme and creating dark foals? A search of foals that are G- and hom Ccr brings up a list of 11 extremely pale foals, regardless of whether they're E- based or ee based.

I believe that if I’m remembering right, there’s a rank 1 “grey and cream” herd helper. That might give you a boost.ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

I've thought about doing a white line before using perlino dun like this guy
My Example
He looks white on my screen. Adding pangare and grey would add an extra layer of lightness to it. -
In my limited experience, it's a combination of lightening genes that gets you those white foals (just grey gives you darker foals that whiten out over time).
So - dun, cream, grey, silver, champagne, white spotting, etc. all can play a part.
I got a white filly this season -- she's hom Cream and silver and grey and w2.
Full Whiteout
Her sire is a silver perlino dun All Washed Up RS -- that might be something you want to look for if you like RS horses.
Another of my foals from a similar pairing is only het cream and didn't get the W2, and she came out yellowish (though she'll fade with time).
Washout G2
Hope that gives you some ideas to play with!
Edit to add -- my All Washed Up stud is a great breeder but I never seem to use all his capacity. PM me if you're interested in breeding to him sometime. I can put him up in my chat for you if you're interested. -
DP U13 Cloud Princess
She's the whitest horse I've ever bred. She has w2, which can be lethal, w20, splash 3, and hom cream.
