A Good Laugh From My Junior Stud
-
I still have many 4 year old studs to test breed so I only sent this 3 year old stallion to a handful of mares, but I thought it was hilarious that I got 12 colts and 0 fillies lol. The colts were all about as good as or worse than him so they're all going to be (hopefully successful) show ponies. He's not that special but he's a good outcross to my Yule Log Ashes ponies so I'll definitely be sending him to many more mares next season. Feel free to share your colt lamentations here. I don't want to sound too whiny though, I've overall had a really great season full of beautiful grays and I've discovered some stunning artwork from my match ups! :)

It’s been a pretty blah season here... mostly colts and mostly plain colors from my WC and Nacre stallions too...Watercolor, Chinchilla, Axiom, Nexus, Wrong Warp, Nacre, Ice 5/8, Satin and Pearl

It's been awhile since I've seen anyone use this, but at one time, we called this phenomenon being visited by the colt fairy. :D
It does certainly happen once in a while. Other times, the fillies seem to dominate a crop of foals.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I haven't had the filly fairy come in a while. Even my eggs have predominantly been colts! LOL
This season out of 260 mares I think I wound up with 40 replacement fillies and I believe 20 stud colts who were STS. All of which I need to dig through and choose which will be most beneficial to my program.
I've since sold all my AGA colts with a couple left for forum auction in the future, and all the leftover fillies I had no use for have been sold. The ones I need to sort will be more pricey as they'd be staples but really trying to dial down my program here. :)ID# 24891

on the flip side, I've been hoping for a colt from my one stallion and he steadfastly refuses to throw anything but fillies...

@SandycreekFarm You're right, that little phrase seems to have fallen out of favor recently. The colt fairy used to plague me on HJ1 for a long time but the past few RL years have been much better. Of course, I have many more mares over there to balance out the statistics of it lol! :)) I just need more mares over here, more ponies is always the answer right? :)
@levesel2 I hope your season gets more colorful! Those nacre babies are gorgeous! :x
@RubyJoFarm If I find the filly fairy I'll send her your way hahaha. Just glad I'm not the only one! 20 superior colts sounds like a good problem until I think about how difficult it would be to cull!
@Crewcut Fingers crossed for a nice superior colt from your stallion with all the right genes!ID 125
