Okay I feel kinda dumb asking this, haha.

What do the check marks and stars and such all mean in the leaderboard. Some are outlines and some are filled. What is the difference with all the symbols.

They indicate your upgrade level and whether you’ve made a real money purchase in the last month or not. Also game Mods have a special symbol.

Stars are for upgrades. Basic is an outline, premium are filled.

Checkmarks mean the player has spent real money in the last month

So the check is that player has made a purchase. The shield is a Mod. The black/colored star is a Premium Upgrade and the white/uncolored star is a basic upgrade. I think.
