Should I breed this horse?
-
So this lovely foundation mare came from the Exceptionally Producing Splash card. She is a liver chestnut - what luck! But her PT is 1.9. If I breed her to an EXP foundation stallion, will their foals' PT be a rough average? Will their foals have a higher chance of being snipped? Or does her EP creation bonus trump the 1.9 PT stat?

PT score has nothing to do with breeding ability in foundations. If she is exceptionally producing splash, you know her breeding ability is 105% or there about. Breeding her to an Expro foundation stallion (B papered) will give you the best chance at intact foals, because she has a higher breeding ability than most foundations :)Thanked by 1WhiteMountain

PT has nothing to do with breeding ability. Think of them as 2 seperate "scores" . It's just that we can SEE the PT score, and we can't see the "breeding" score. We can get a general idea of breeding ability from tests like Breeding Advice, Strict Breeding Advice, and Breeding Inspection, but that's it.
You might be really surprised at the jump in PT scores between her and her offspring. Especially if you match her to the right stallion (your EXP foundation should be a good match, I'd need a link to be sure, and even then my concern would be based on extent of white more than breeding ability)Thanked by 1WhiteMountain
