Why Can't You Get the Good Genes
  • This filly had a chance to get Lp and PATN1 from both parents and Sabino 1, W20, Splash, Dun or Champagne from her dam. What does she get...only Sabino 1and a WF of None... so the Sabino is a spot on the back of her left front leg. At least she is Blue and has a good PT

  • Lol I’ve been selling off show horses on HJ1 and seeing some horses for the first time in years (I rarely look at show horses once they’ve had their prefix added and most were 13-16years old) thinking ooooh that ones pretty, oooh I like that colour, why can’t my breeding horses inherit the patterns?
  • I used to ride with a lady who bred a palomino to an appaloosa - I don't remember which was which, or the color of the appy - but the filly came out solid bay, with one tiny yellow spot and one little black spot. She grew up to be a wonderful horse to ride, at least. Great temperament and appy smart.
    More power!
  • What's even more annoying/funny is I have foals from another one of my stallions that are almost entirely white Sabinos. I can't seem to get a happy medium, they either get all the color genes and turn pretty much white or nothing and look solid. I'm trying to get some color/pattern but not overkill.

I did get one really nice solid Bay who ended up being a Star and hom Satin (didn't even realize his dam carried it until I saw him) image
