How do you choose show foals?
-
So, how do you choose which of your snipped foals make it into the show pen? I've kind of "lost my way" and I need help! I've decided to start keeping the best of my snipped but I don't know how to tell which is better than the other (show wise).
sorry for the newbie question lol :\"> -
I usually sort my horses out by age, look at the horses that are in that age group, and get rid of whoever seems way "below average" in points. Does that make sense?
I don't know if it is effective or not, but that is what I've always done.ID 19665 -
Any spayed or gelded foals with a PT of greater than 10.5 or 11 (depends on barn space) all go to my show barns. I do not sort after that.
-
Same as DragonRun. I PT test all the spay/gelds and auction off everything under 10.5
-
Same as DragonRun and Confluence, except I keep everything 10.4+. I might adjust that number this season or next, depends on how many alters I get.#28036

I had been wondering this as well, since I'm still starting out I'm trying not to cull too many just yet, but these are some great methods. thank you for sharing.~☼~Welcome to Burnt Hill Creek Farm

Sonce I’m newer my cutoff number has been lower, but I’m planning to raise it this season. Pretty much just go by PT! The only time I haven’t been going by PT is in the case of high pointed creates, in which case I’ve been hanging onto them even if they have lower PT. I may start culling them in a few seasons, though, too.ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time. -
I think that, as long as you have room, you should keep what you can. Yes, start with the highest PT scores, but if you have the room, keep the lower ones, too. They earn points, just in lower level classes, and not as quickly.
Look at these guys, they are in the top 15 point earning horses in the game, and their scores are in the low 10s:

And don't just look at the PT scores! Look at their DAILY payouts! :o -
I keep them all.
I’d rather make room for a show horse than for a breeding horse.
Eventually (I know waiting sucks) the show horses will start to pay for the breeding horses and you’ll be able to afford more barns to keep more show horses or breeding horses or empty stalls for new foals.
Unfortunately real life isn’t always nice so my premium upgrade is the only thing I can really afford to spend on the game but my show horses have bought barns for each generation of breeding horses (I have more show horses on HJ1 but they’ve bought 210 stalls barns for breeding and 5 - 1000 stall barns to hold the show horses) eventually I’ll upgrade the barns I have on this server to 210’s but for now they’re fairly empty so not high on priority. -
I am lucky enough to have enough room to keep everything :) Every horse has the ability to make you alot of cash if they level off in a good place. I have several horses with a PT of less than 9.5 that has well over 2000 points to their name.
