DP?
-
I dont really know how to tell if a horse carries dp, so i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to spot it?
Also, would this foal carry DP?
Napoleons Dynamite -
i would say not because he doesn't have the sty gene and hes a bay. but i'm not that good at telling either so i wouldn't take my word for it. also looking at his family tree i cant see any signs of a dp carrier in there.
but as i said im not very good at telling either so i could be wrong :) -
Thank you! Im kinda new and i wasnt sure exactly what alleles represent the DP gene or how to tell

this post should help you out. its a DP chart :) -
It's hard to tell looking at him, because he so little pigment. I took a quick look, not a thorough one by any means) at his extended pedigree, especially on the sire's side and didn't see any obvious DP carriers. Most of them, especially in the closer generations, were black based, and so could not have expressed DP even if they carried it. There was a concentration on Pearl.
I would say that it's probably unlikely that he could have an ancestor that was carrying DP that could have been handed down to him, but I could certainly be long. It was a very quick scan, so I might have missed something.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

There are at least 2 DP foundation horses on the site's side and 1 4g that looks like it may have DP, but it's hard to tell on the more recent generations. I think the only way to know for sure would be to breed him.#28036
