Exceptional producers
-
What do they do? Is if advisable to focus on them when starting a line of horses in your stable?
-
Exceptional producers have a higher breeding range(105%?).They are better breeders the Perfect Foundations and Top Notch Producers(100% breeding range)
While most RS are Perfect foundations, some will be Expros(exceptional producers).
Some Rank 5 DHH will be expros but not all, you will need to pay attention to the title or the horses tattoo.
It is beneficial to start a line out of Expros or Perfect Foundations simply because you know their breeding quality. While you might not have all foals pass, it helps insure that the overall quality will be better.

Thanks for the advice!

I know that Perfect Foundations have 100% breeding ability and Exceptionally Perfect Foundations have 105% breeding ability. I think, though I may be wrong, that Exceptional Producers may have breeding abilities between 101% and 105%.
I can confirm that Perfect Foundations have 9.9 PT scores, and Exceptionally Perfect horses have 10.5 PT scores. Exceptional Show Horses have PT scores ranging from 10.5 to 10.0. The PT scores for Exceptional Producers are all over the map. It's the range of PT scores for Exceptional Show Horses that makes me think that the breeding ability percentage for Exceptional Producers may be somewhat variable.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

just for a different perspective, someone in the beginners' chat suggested looking at Exceptional Producers or Exceptionally Perfect as being comparable to a second generation horse rather than a normal foundation.
-
That would explain why they are listed as Era 4.
-
Is exceptionally perfect better than perfect foundations when looking to breed to rank specials?
-
@WhiteMountain yes! I didn't think to mention that, but they said specifically that's why Exceptionals get put into an earlier era.
@wendolyne, it depends on the rank special - some of them are equivalent to Perfect Foundations, and others to Exceptional Producers or Exceptionally Perfect. If you want to breed 'even', check the description of the special you want to breed and find a mate that's comparable.
