Have to show off this filly...

Look at this beauty I just brought in out of the pasture! I breed for liver with lots of patterns and she's just grabbed all of her parents' best genes - appaloosa, tobiano, rabicano, AND w2. She's a third gen and blue papered, too, just to top it all off. :D

She's gorgeous!
I breed a lot of dp too and I love getting colorful surprises! I'm just now going through my liver pasture too.----

Would you mind telling me what liver does? I have two that popped up for me this year in one of my other stables but I have no idea what it is doing to the color.

"Liver", or "Chocolate Palomino" are two colours that only show when a gene called "Dense Pheomelanin" is active. DP cannot be tested for. It darkens the red in a horses coat, so can be seen in red based horses.
To get a liver, you need a chestnut horse with at least three darkening genes, usually two sooty genes and one copy of dp. Four darkening genes, two sooty and two dp, result in a "black liver". To get a chocolate palomino the exact same needs to happen, except with a single cream gene.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
