I have a couple of horses that I GMT'ed KP onto. It shows under, Somatic Tattoos GMT: ? >> ?. But neither horse is in the KP Club, and this first one has not had any foals with KP. Even bred to Hom KP mares. I also GMT'ed GP on him. Could it be that I can only GMT one special gene even though the Somatic Tattoo says it has both? Or I am missing something? I spent real money for the GMT's and want to make sure they got KP even though it doesn't show.

1 Gulastra Oorah KPBB

This next one is a mare, I GMT'ed DP and KP on her. She does have a couple of foals from a Hom KP that are in the KP Club also, but she is not in the KP Club, and she has one club left to be able to be in it. When I breed these two together, none of the foals have KP. I was hoping to get a Hom KP/GP from them. Does anyone know why the KP isn't showing?

They have to have two Kit genes for KP to show up :)

They should have two regular Kit genes, as well as KP?

First is missing 2 kit gene so no gen2 foals will show up
Second is missing 1 kit gene.

Gp must be hom and on a bay based horse to show.
Kp must be Hom and the horses must have 2 kit genes to show.
Snowflake must be hom and the horse needs atleast 1 copy of lp to show :)

Neither show KP because neither have the two KIT mutations needed to switch it on. The stallion can't throw KP foals since he has no KIT to pass on, but he can produce carriers to breed on with, and the two can't produce KP foals bred to each other. Find a stallion that expresses KP for your mare to maximize her chance of giving you a KP baby.

For KP to show, a horse must have 2 kit genes (tobiano, sabino, roan, white) in addition to the two copies of KP. It looks like Gulastra has none, so even bred to a homozygous KP mare with two kit genes, his offspring won't show the clouds. Osmium has 1 kit genes, so bred to a homozygous KP with two kit genes, the offspring have a 50% chance of clouds.
