Huge storm last night... Dropped trees and power lines
-
Woke up at about 4 this morning with no power (it’s been out since around 1:30am) and then the cows got out and we’re chasing the plow guy and over a foot of snow. We went to check the horses cause we put them in the barn last night and found thirteen trees down in our small 2 acre pasture alone. We then went to town and there was a power line down on the Main Street with no markings that it was down and nobody there. Got back and cleared out most the branches and trees off the fences and put the fence back up. We were lucky because in our yard a branch fell from a tree and missed the motorcycle and in the pasture a huge tree missed the shed and branches missed the hay ring, hay wagon, and hay trailer so no damage to much other than a broken fence as a result of cutting the trees off the fences. All the animals are okay just a little stressed and scared but they’ll be fine.EasternShowBarn

Yikes! They were saying on the news that both coasts were going to get slammed this weekend! Is your power back on yet?

Last year I had a storm blow my chicken houses over. One was just knocked on it's side but one was completely upside-down and about 30 feet from where it should have been. Luckily all the birds survived, but understandably they stopped laying for several days.
Weather can do some pretty impressive stuff.#28036 -
Most of my area is without power. We got lucky. The Wendy's I work at is getting slammed by people getting food because they can't keep anything or cook in a powerless house. We also had a guy have a tree fall on him while he was sitting in his truck. Poor guy didn't see it coming.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

@ EasternShowBarn--Wow! I'm so glad that you and all your animals are OK. What a wild time you had.
We lost power for most of yesterday, with a lot of blinking on and off during some periods. The house got chilly, but we really had no major problems. Thanks to having a natural gas range and several oil lamps and lots of candles, light and food prep were possible. When we contacted our power company (it's a rural electric co-op) they told us the problem was with their supplier.
@Timber--I hope your power returns soon.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

@Timber hopefully your power come on soon... Poor guy as well.. We had to go to a nearby store to get food cause we couldn’t get our stove to work and our wood stove didn’t have any way to heat any further than maybe a couple feet around it.EasternShowBarn
