She's gorgeous and I'm a bit bummed.
  • I had such high hopes for this mare! Gorgeous coat, totally compatible with one of my stallions....But shes Performance tested at only 0.60!

I bred her this year and haven't a clue what the foal looked like as I believe it went to auction and was swallowed by the system.

Now I'm debating whether or not to keep her around and attempt to breed her to one of my higher ranking stallions....

    Opinions??

  • The low PT mares can be really good producers, just not always the best show horses :). One of my lowest PT mares has some of my best foals
  • I agree with fresian. I have a low PT mare and she gives me nice foals with higher PT most of the time 10PT.
  • I hope this gal will! Her coloring is great, and is definitely along the lines of what I'm aiming for colorwise, so we'll see. I haven't given up on her yet...

These two gals are my next lowest, still a far shout from 0.60 though!

  • If it works for your breeding plan, let her live in your pasture. That way she will get the pasture boost for her foals’ quality and won’t waste you money trying to enter her in shows. Remember you have to breed her in pasture for her to have the boost.
  • She is very pretty, she may give you some awesome foals.
  • She's a foundation mare, so her PT is completely unrelated to her breeding ability! So certainly worth breeding and seeing how she goes. Just don't bother showing her LOL!
  • PT has nothing to do with breeding ability for foundations - even in lined horses it's more a correlation than anything (foals from high breeding ability parents will likely have good show and breeding ability, but you can and will definitely get lined stock that PT lower than their breeding ability reflects because they're not the same score!)
