Color Results
  • Is there a database of color results by any chance? Not sure if it’s quite how the system works, but I’m talking about, for example:

Breeding a grey horse with a bay horse can result in...

It would be pretty neat if there was something like that, just so players could more accurately breed for desirable colors. I mostly figure the whole point of the genetics is to figure out the combinations and genes by learning, but I’m just curious if such thing exists yet!

  • Not officially. I can only imagine how long that list would have to be!

If you learn that Gray is dominant then you know that the Bay foal will turn gray EVENTUALLY.

  • It’s not about the visual colors of the horses you’re breeding, it’s about their genetics.

So, let’s say your bay is EE AA gg.

Let’s say your grey is Ee aa Gg.

There are only two possible colors you could get from that pairing, bay or grey. All the foals will have a bay base. Roughly 1/2 will inherit grey from their grey parent.

    If, instead, your genetics are

Ee Aa gg x Ee aa Gg, suddenly you could get black, bay, chestnut or grey from that pairing. It is reading these genetics and understanding the possible outcomes that the game is based on.

If your grey is a GG grey, every foal it throws will be grey no matter what horse you pair it with because grey is dominant to every other gene in the game.
  • Equine coat color calculator is something you could always use if youd like.

  • Yeah, I just found this a few days ago:

But honestly figuring out the genes involved will be a much better help than going through this calculator every time. It comes up with color name results instead of genetic results, but my, is it thorough. Also it doesn't have livers. :P
