Comparison Test Question
-
About As Good As and As Good As are two different things right?
Horse A is About As Good As Horse B = Horse B is superior
Horse A is As Good As Horse B = They are equal in quality
Am I understanding this properly?Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they both mean that the horses are about equal. One stallion may be slightly superior to the other, but unless it is a HUGE different the test will not specifically say Horse A is Superior to Horse B
As for your first example I believe it could be either horse that is the one who is slightly superior. I've noticed the test always tells the superiority from the horse on the left in relation to the horse on the right.
For example, if Horse A is superior to Horse B and Horse A was entered into the box on the left the test would read: Horse A is Superior to Horse B. If the same two horses were entered, but Horse B entered on left the test would read: Horse B is Worse than Horse A
Given this, it could be either one of your stallion who are superior. As I said don't quote me on this, my sleep deprived brain is probably just producing gibberish.Thanked by 1supersarah -
There is NO comparison result "as good as."
The three comparisons are
1. worse than
2. about as good as
3. superior to.
A stallion gets the first, if his breeding ability is significantly worse than the horse you're comparing him to.
He will get the second, "about as good as" if his ability ranges from somewhat worse to somewhat better than the comparison horse. I've seen 2nd gen colts by a C papered sire paper B, but comparison test about as good as. That means that he is just enough better than his sire to paper a level higher, but he isn't significantly better.
If his breeding ability is significantly better than the other stallions, he gets the prized "superior to" ranking.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Ah. Okay. I've always just heard as good as and never about as good as. I assumed it was a different result you could get. Alright that makes things a bit more difficult to decide which of two brothers stays or goes, I think I'll manage.
Thanks for the help.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

Yep "Horse A is As Good As Horse B " isn't a thing in the game. :)
