DP Question
-
So, I know this girl is dp from the fact she is "ketchup" red and threw a black chestnut. My only question is which one of her parents did she get it from? I'm assuming the sire because one of her had siblings is almost the same color but I wanted a second opinion.

Also, could anyone tell me if if this girl is het or hom dp?

For the Chocolate Pally she is at least het because she would be just a pally if she didn't have DP.
EDIT: Someone else can most likely explain it better. -

For me, I usually look at the withers of a dp horse to tell whether it is hom or het, so your girl is confusing me a bit. But after flicking from my known hom DP chocolate palomino, I'd say they're similar enough for yours to be hom as well.
As for the bays, I don't know...

I don't find chocolate palominos that hard to tell the difference in...But like I said, I do it by the withers. The withers of a hom dp chocolate is rather black, whereas with a het dp it's milky.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

Sorry i didn't see obsidians comment..

Thank you guys, i thought so too. I am no where near a DP expert so I figure it is always a good idea to ask. Obsidian, I deactivated the saddle and her withers are rather dark. Also, Blue, I know she is at least het because she is a dark chocolate create ;)

Yup! Without the saddle I am not 100% sure she's hom dp. Have fun with her~! Funny how little things make you question...Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

I would say that the Palomino is Hom DP. And from looking at the Sire and dam, I would say that the DP comes from the dam, if it was the Sire he would show it. Hope this helps :D
-
The sire should also be quite red instead of dark chocolate brown if he was DP. That’s how DP affects wild bay, and he’s dark wild bay. So I would say her DP comes from her dam.

Thank you both for your input. I promise I won't have to ask about DP 24/7 one of these days!
