Crying for the folk in Vegas :(
  • Awful, just terrible.
    ID #21047
  • :( I just saw a little news snippet and almost cried. Absolutely heartbreaking
  • What happened I don't have cable
  • An old guy shot 600 people at a music concert . approx. 60 dead.
    ID #21047
  • So irritating that America can't get a break. First Harvey, then Irma, then Jose, and now this? Like what is going on with this world. It's so sad. That guy had no initiative, He was filthy rich and married... What is wrong with people these days...
  • I followed the story all day yesterday on a conspiracy website, shocking stuff. Really can't get my head around it. I hope nobody here was affected in any way.
  • My cousin was there. She is alright. Her and her friend managed to make it out unharmed. They actually ran into an off duty Deputy and his girlfriend who is a Corrections Officer who made sure they got to safety. She's really shaken up though. She can't sleep because her brain just wont shut off. She says when she closes her eyes she just hears gun shots and sees herself running again and everything she had to run passed. She said it has changed her forever.
  • What can you even say? There are no words that can make it better.

For me personally to stay sane I just try and remember that these days, 60 people dead is a national tragedy. We have come so far compared to where we were 50/100/500 years ago. Our world is so much more peaceful and people so much kinder now. When 60 people die we CARE. That hasn't always been the case.

    "Look for the helpers" right?
  • I couldn't have said it better Ammit.
  • I saw some videos of it happening I couldn't watch it all it was so sad :( and the weird thing is the guy had no criminal record only gambling stuff he just went crazy :(
  • @BlackWater I don't think he was filthy rich he was in debt from gambling but that was the only this wrong in his life really the guys friends say that they did not see it coming and that they are shocked he would do something like that it was not like him
  • @Fj1482 It sounds like your cousin is developing PTSD. If she isn't talking to someone already, please encourage her to.

My cousin and her family live in Las Vegas, so our family here in Missouri was frantic until we got the call they were ok, they hadn't attended the event.

It's a terrible tragedy and like most other tragedies, it makes no sense. :(

  • Yes, "Look for the helpers. Didn't know anyone at the concert, but I didn't know my family had gone for vacation to Las Vegas till they called saying they were all right. My brother stayed up watching the ambulances...
The cool thing was my Mom said she wanted to donate blood but people from all over were in donation lines backed up for hours. Things like this are horrible, but they bring everyone else closer together fighting for good. Still horrified that it did happen though.
  • She was finally able to catch a plan today. My sister (who is very close to her) is heading over their today to talk to her. Talking certainly has never been one of Shelley's issues so if she starts to close off we certainly know what to do. She's known as "The Boss" lady to her friends so she might be reluctant. My sister has dealt with PTSD before though with her husband who is an officer she's good at handling things like that.

It is absolutely horrifying what happened. I'm so sorry for the families who lost loved ones. I'm glad to here the lines were packed to give blood. I would have done the same because I'm a type O- which makes me a Universal blood donor. Our local bank loves seeing me walk in.
