Hiya! My Stable name is SaddleHorses, I chose that name because I want to have horses that can be ridden on trail rides and compete in English and Western disciplines. :)
Anyway, I really LOVE horses, I think they areAWESOME
andADORABLE!
I joined this game because I was searching horse breeding games and found HuntAndJump!
If you guys could give me some tips on the game, that would be really helpful! Thanks! -
Welcome to the wonderful world of Hunt and Jump. We generally don't use a lot of fancy stuff for our posts in the forum for this game.
Aside from that stylistic quirk of the community, the best way to start is to read the FAQ linked near the bottom of the left menu very carefully. It gives a good basic overview of the game. There's some additional help at the Breeding Info link. However the current breeding season for the game year is over. The new game year starts October 1. Admins start breeding on that date, to make sure everything is running smoothly. Those of us who have upgraded accounts begin breeding on Oct. 2. Free accounts may begin breeding on Oct. 3.
This is a great game to play, especially if you're interested in real life horse color genetics. We have a few fantasy genes, and some stuff that isn't completely understood by science, but for the most part, the game is based on real life. That includes a great deal of uncertainty, because most things we do can have a range of outcomes.
It's a very complex game, so please, never hesitate to ask when you have a specific question about something. We're a friendly, helpful community and enjoy helping new players grow into the game.
Every player sets individual goals and works to achieve them. We are not in competition with each other. Our opponent is the built in variability I've already mentioned. :D
There is no one correct way to play the game, although many of us try to follow certain best practices. As you start to play and interact with us, you will find out some of the standards we set for ourselves.
The best way to make money is by showing your horses. Every night we receive a "showing bonus" that equals a proportion of the total number of points awarded to our horses when they show. So, showing your breeding stock that aren't in pastures is a good idea. So is keeping as many neutered horses as you can make room for.
Here's a link to a collection of posts that contain interesting and helpful information.

There's a post pinned at the top of the forum with an invitation to apply for a new member welcome pack. I recommend checking it out.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
