They're all different - sooty palomino
  • Made some random creates with a sooty palomino hh, my first palominos :x Since I'm unfamiliar with them, can anyone guess why each one looks different without genetic testing :D

  • 1 is a normal Hom sooty palomino
2 is lighter as they have one or 2 copies of flaxen
3 is Hom or Het DP making them a Chocolate Palomino
4 is dun which makes the coat lighter but as primative markings.

(May not be 100% right and would be easier to explain if they had colour testing to get the most accurate answers)

  • My guesses?

    660 is a chocolate palomino.
661 has dun on her ((guessing by the faint stripe on her back and legs))

658 I think is your regular sooty palomino. Maybe a copy of w20 to get those back socks.

I believe that 659 is the exact same as 658 as well, just variance in the coat colour.

  • I with Obsidian. Flaxen shouldn't affect the main coat color significantly, and shouldn't really affect a palomino at all. Pangare will affect the depth of color on the coat a little, but I think the first and second girls are just normal variation within the color.

  • @Cheers I was stumped on those two for a bit. I know the first one is a normal sooty palomino as I have a few like her, but had to do a horse search to see the variance in the coat, and both colours came up. First I thought the second might have silver, due to the light coloured mane/tail, but it just didn't seem right....hence the horse search :p

  • A chestnut horse can carry Silver, but it will never have any effect on its coat or points because Silver only lightens black hair.
