Genetics chart?
-
Hey! Isn't there a chart somewhere that tells about Genetics and what the letters stand for? I have been trying to find it and I can't. :( Also, could someone tell me what DP means? I have seen it around a lot lately. I have no clue how to tell if a horse is DP but I love the color of DP horses!
-
A few months ago I made a post about this called "Let's talk in game genetics" and it is still a work in progress (lol, slow progress) and there is some outdated info (like DP only showing on red based horses) but there's lots of good info there and in the comments. I should start working on it again.
DP stands for dense pheomelanin, and it is what causes liver (2 Ssty, 1 DP) and black (2 Ssty, 2 DP) chestnuts. Basically if a red based or bay based horse looks darker than they should be based on how much sooty they have, you should suspect DP. -
Ok, thank you, Kaquel!! What does DP look like in the gene testing?
-
Could you send me a link to the post?
-
DP does not show up in the gene testing.I was jllewis on the old forum.
Stable ID 88 -
Oh. That's odd o.O
-
Well yeah. Does It show up in real life?
-
Nvm, I suppose that's a dumb question and it doesn't. :(
-
:P Nah, I don't think it's dumb. Liver and black chestnuts do show up in RL, but as far as I know it is not well understood scientifically what causes them. I think DP is Ammit's spin on what it could be. If anyone has found any scientific papers on this, I would love to see them! I googled it awhile back and came up empty.
Here's the thread I was talking about:

I really should finish it. Maybe I'll work on it again tonight/tomorrow/the weekend. -
Thank you, Kaquel!! I looked up DP too and couldn't find anything on it and I was already vonfused about it in the game haha hey! All I know is DP is pretty and I want all the DP pixel ponies :3 lol

rufus genes are the name often used for pigment density modifiers. Lots of info on google about that.
