Breed Name Help
  • I've been trying to come up with a breed name for a while, but I'm not very creative. In turn, I'm still without a breed name! So I figured I would ask for some help.
I'm a big fan of wolves, so that might be fun. If there was some way to use my barn name that would be cool too.

Any and all ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance!
  • You could use Quileute. Which is the Indian tribe in Twilight. They turn into wolves.
The Lakota word for wolf shunkaha.
  • Maybe you could combine that lakota word for wolf "Shunkaha" with "Kasch." Something like Shunkasch or Shunkaschian or Shunkaschaha.

I've found it's easiest to try to mix up or alter the word slightly so that it is a made up/nonsense word. Otherwise it could violate the breed name rules.
    SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES
    Barn ID - 2358
  • The Latin name for a Wolf is Canis lupus, and if you say something is Wolf-like you say it's "lupine". Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter books is Lupin because of that Latin root word.

According to Ancestry.com, Kasch means cook or porridge and has Slavic roots.

In ancient Slavic mythology, there is a winged dog or winged wolf called Simargl. He is kept chained by some solar demigods to the constellation Ursa Major. If he is ever freed he will cause the end of the world.

So my vote is for Simarglian or Simarglus or something similar.
  • A side note to Cheers' reference to Remus Lupin, Remus was one of the two brothers said to have created Rome - in the myth - and he was raised by wolves.

He was really just a walking werewolf clue :))
  • Salvistar and fj1482, thank you both! I like the idea of the combined Lakota and Kasch (Shunkaschaha).

@Cheers, Simarglian I think is the way I'll probably go! I'm impressed you looked into Kasch, that's pretty good! That mythology has always been so interesting to me, I really love it.

    Thank you all so much!!
  • I like playing on Google! Glad we gave you some good ideas!
    Thanked by 1KaschStables
