DP Silver Bay
  • Just curious, who else spawns and collects dp silver bays? I know most people go for the dark chestnut herd helpers, but it's truly magical when you get that one silver bay who you just KNOW has DP!

  • They are beautiful!
  • That's one of the goals I have for my own Silver bay line. I want to pocket watch pattern homo sty then I will add some of my dp line in to get some really dark horses going on lol
  • There is a Dark Silver Bay HH out there for today. (If you want I can grab it and you tell me the specs. Then sell it to you)
  • Oh I love my DP silver bays!
  • I made about 80 this week @BlueJumpingBean xD I don't have the space for any more haha

@fj1482 I don't even know how I started with it but it's somewhat become an established look I go for in my herd for about the last year now. I know a lot of people go for black livers but a good ol dark shiny bay is just amazing! Add in a touch of rabicano and tobiano and it's a winner for me! My lines are very split down the middle at the moment of solid horses and then appaloosa + everything that won't kill it xD

  • I definitely prefer Chocolate Palomino and DP bay of all types to liver chestnut. I don't have silver in my bay lines because they're GP and I don't want to cover up their plumes, but DP dark bay with silver is stunning!
    Thanked by 1Bourbon
  • @Bourbon I have two liver chestnut lines but I already have DP in some of my other lines and I'm working on getting it into the ones who don't already have it. I really like the dark colors. The darker I can get them the better. I do have my Cremello/Perlino lines that I have no intention of adding DP to but I think technically it's already there because of the RS stallions I have that rotate into that herd. I want to get in into my silver bay and silver buckskin for sure, it might already be there due to RS stallions again lol
  • Oooo So much better than a Liver. Gotta get some of these. Thinking I'll toss some silvers in the pasture to cross with my liver appy.
  • @Windspun you're making me a little jealous here! I love the little splash frame girl *U* I'm having a pretty nice season with babies!

@jezmynespice1 I'm currently trying to get snowflake on top of it too along with white. It's ending up a bit of a nightmare since I only have the one positive snowflake stallion and he's a expro so my lines are just a mess there. I really would love it if I could just splat these two together and then add DP ontop!

@Cheers I agree chocolate palomino is better than liver, but I think dp bay is better again haha. I think you might have popped me on that course a while back. I've wanted GP for a while but I don't know, I'm happy enough with silver and splash. I'll probably try to touch into it somewhere down the line but for now blinding contrast in mane and tail makes me happy <3<br />
@fj1482 I somewhere down the line added cremello into my lines, I'm not sure why but it opened up the wonderful world of buckskins for me. Every now and then I get a cremello or a perlino pop out from which is always a bit of a shock! I think my stables too small to keep track of any major lines (trying and failing at keeping a rein on snowflake).

@Skylight It's very very pretty! It's always nice when it sometimes throws out a silver black or a buckskin or you get the shock your life when you get the palest horse from existence from the buckskins xD

  • @ bourbon...omggggg those foals!! drooling at the first 2, espcially little boom box... =P~ @-)

  • Yeah, I love DP, but I go a different direction than the livers too. I go for DP bay duns, though I love the DP silver bays too. Unfortunately the one I've gotten was a gelding, and he is hiding somewhere in my show herd now.
