Erratic Numbers

I bred my little champagne stallion today for the first time. I PT tested 2/4 foals and got 9.3, 9.4 and inconsistent, from arguably two of my best mares. So I PT tested the other two and got like 10, and 10.5. He is rated as consistent. Does anyone have any ideas of why his AFPT is so erratic. (Fairly sure all foals failed BA too) . Should I just wait until next season, or start being suspicious of him now? He did pass SBA.

Honestly I don't see anything that would cause reason for alarm. He passed SBA so he is for sure a better breeder than both his parents. I don't find his AFPT to be that erratic. Remember no horse is going to be perfect and has a range within they can swing and give to any given foal. If your breeding him to red papered girls who have a full pasture bonus than I think it was just a rough year for him.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

Here are two of my 2nd generation boys. If given my choice I would not be using either of them for my herd sirs but they were the only two who were still a live. Take a look into their AFPT. They don't differ much from your boy at all.

Consistency affects PT don't forget, so it makes sense that the 2 foals who were inconsistent also had lower PTs than the (presumably) consistent foals with higher PTs.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

Ok, I'll just reject those and move on. But even adding the .5 PT it's still only 9.8 which is far less than I'd like.
Ok seeing those makes it a bit better.
Oops I accidentally put the 10.5 PT in auction. Hopefully someone will pick it up.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses. -
Keep in mind that it's only 4 foals, which is not an adequate sample size at all.

Yea, that's true. His up and coming girls I bred won't be breedeable for another couple seasons.
I guess I'll give him more time.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
