A question about dapples

I was popping a Dark Chestnut HH hoping to get another liver stallion and got this guy instead. Could NOT say no to those dapples.

So now that this guy has been put into my Liver/DP herd, I need my memory refreshed as to what causes dappling.

I think that sometimes dapples just occur. Saw dapples on a silver black I think it was and the only thing that I know that causes dapples fpr sure don't work on blacks! Which is S+ and dp.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable. -
I think dapples are more common when horses carry sooty. You can reroll Sooty horses without dapples and most of them will eventually get dapples.
I'm not sure that dapples tend to show up on bright horses though... -
I thought I remember Ammit once hinting at something genetic behind dapples? It would have been months ago though, and I can't remember for sure. I haven't looked into it at all, either. Great question though! I've thought about it every time I see a dappled sooty chestnut- definitely one of my favorite colors.

Having Sooty helps cause dapples on all colors. Dapples can show up on any color randomly on creation. Champagne horses can have dark dapples rather than light ones, regardless of base color. Silver can cause dapples. Sooty+ originally produced its own version of dapples, especially with the dilution genes--Dun, Cream, Silver and Champagne. It looks different since Ammit has changed over to the new image generation program, and isn't as pronounced in its effect.
