KP?
-
So i was looking at my colt Dark Pearls sire Dark Sun Rising , i saw that Dark Star had GMT'd +Kp on him. What does that mean?Life is Special live it to your fullest
-
KP i Kit Promoter. It adds a completely random cloudy white pattern to the horse if it is homozygous KP and have two kit genes. Here are some of mine:
I l-o-v-e KP <3 -
So how do I know if my colt carries a copy of KP?Life is Special live it to your fullest
-
There is no way to test for it, only breed for it. A horse has to be homozygous for it, and also has to have 2 Kit genes, for it to show. Breed him to mares that have Kit, and 2 generations out, you may find out that he has it if you breed his offspring to his offspring. (Or, breed to mares that are known to carry it).
-
How do i find a mare that has those?Life is Special live it to your fullest
-
Oh garsh. Sorry to butt in but oh my ♥I'm in love.
-
The same way you find any horse for sale :) Except if you want a mare that is proven KP, it's probably gonna cost you a pretty penny, if you get one. I know I keep mine heavily guarded behind a barbed wire fence :P There are not many KP foundations on this server.
-
I am secretly taking cookies and stuffing them through the cracks in Maribo's barbed wire fence. Shhhh.
(That white bay mare looks like she's passing gas... just sayin.)
Seriously, KP is cause to excuse a mare for producing ehhhh foals... for me to sell or spay a proven KP mare she has to be producing crap. That's really not true for any other gene, in my barn. Your best bet is to know what lines carry KP and look for mares that MIGHT have it....
OR, since you already have a potential KP stallion, treat him as your foundation even though he's what, 2G? Breed him to mares who have lots of Kit genes (white, tobiano, sabino, roan), and breed the offspring to each other, and see what you get.
Breeding for KP is an exercise in patience but really rewarding when one shows up, especially when it's a surprise. -
Actually, I just noticed that your boy isn't carrying any Kit... expect a longer exercise in patience, might take several generations.
-
So i was lookin at him and i noticed saSa is he a satin carrier?Life is Special live it to your fullest
-
So if i bred him to a positive satin mare i would 50% get a satin foal?Life is Special live it to your fullest
-
He has a 50% chance on passing his satin gene on, if the mare also carried a satin gene there would be 25% chance of a satin foal
-
I just saw Dark Pearl is A papered too, that's pretty awesome for a gen2!
-
I know i looked at his sire he only has 3-4 A papered sonsLife is Special live it to your fullest
