To buy and breed snowflake horses do I have to buy the gene and how much does snowflake increases a horses value by?
-
Currently Snowflake is not available in the lab. You also have to be homozygous for Snoflake for it to show. Snowflake horses fetch a decent price and are usually coveted by the Breeders.

Oh and Snowflake is an open gene. Meaning anyone can breed into the line. Unlike Macchiato which is closed.DivineDreams ~ 30908

Snowflake can also show up on random creates, it's just generally invisible because in order for snowflake to show a horse must be hom snowflake and at least het appy. Also, snowflake does not show up on genetic tests and it's a hidden gene like KP, DP, and GP. There have been some people who have bred their foundation snowflake studs to what appeared to be ordinary non snowflake foundation mares and they received a lovely surprise hom snowflake foal. There are even a few RS horses out there that have surprise snowflake.
Since it's possible for random creates to have snowflake, it isn't considered a limited edition gene even though it's not available in the GMT lab. Ammit confirmed that in a fairly recent thread where people were discussing closed vs. limited edition vs. ordinary genes. It's also not a closed gene and there are no restrictions on who can purchase snowflake horses or breed to snowflake horses. Some snowflake owners do not want to share their horses with people who didn't purchase Snowflake for a foundation when it was released, but this is absolutely not a mandatory requirement. The only genes that can't be shared at all are Macchiato, Axiom, and some of the Ice genes. Nexus and some of the original Ice genes can be shared but they aren't allowed on the public sales or breeding lists because people were breeding really poor quality Ice and nexus horses and scamming new players into purchasing them for huge amounts of hbs. All the other genes in the game can be freely sold and bred to. Some people who purchase expensive GMT only genes don't want to share them with people who don't own foundations with that gene, but that is just a personal requirement and not a mandatory game requirement.
Also, there is no point in requesting to join the snowflake buddy chat. That's only for people who spent money to purchase snowflake for a foundation, and people who only own random surprise snowflake foundations or lined snowflakes are not welcome to join, even though this is not indicated in the chat name and the chat is available for public request. I know someone had mentioned creating a buddy chat for people who own snowflake but did not purchase it for a foundation but so far this hasn't happened yet. The owner of the snowflake buddy chat was also advised to change the name of the chat and make it private so it doesn't show up on the list of chats that people can request to join, but this has not happened yet either. -
So if one owns a surprise snowflake regular create, will it always show up in the Snowflake breeders club drop down?DivineDreams ~ 30908

And which RS have the surprise snowflake?DivineDreams ~ 30908

If you have a surprise SNF create which is hom for SNF, has at least one copy of appaloosa so it shows then yes it'll show up in the breeder club. The chances are super slim though, and there has been no confirmed cases. Only cases where they found out a horse has been a carrier by breeding to a known snf horse.
None of the RS have a SNF gene that we know of. My first surprise Snowflake carrier was a Catch a Blue Moon mare, but my other CABM hasn't had a copy since she's had a few foals but none of them have it. It doesn't help that she has had foals who are whiter than the pasty butt of a Swede in winter but neither of them have shown up in the breeder club.

No, They have to be HOM Snowflake and HET (or HOME) Appy for it to show and for them to be put in the breeder registry :)♡ ID #23495 ♡

No. They need to exhibit the gene to be entered, and snowflake only shows up if it's homozygousProducer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable. -
When I said that there were a few surprise snowflake RS horses out there, all I meant was that it's possible for RS horses to get a random snowflake gene the same way that random creates can. There's no RS that specifically gives horses with the snowflake gene. I think some of the people who like to see snowflake shared only with users who purchased it for a foundation and not shared with anyone else would be extremely angry about that, so I doubt we'll ever get one. It'll just be random possible snowflake on any foundation and snowflake may be back again for purchase someday if we're lucky.

I have had one random snowflake show up and she is HET. I only found this out when I bred my HOM snowflake to her. Many people will sell their het snowflake foals to people.
