  • It means he's up for stud and anyone can use him, provided they pay the stud fee. To change this go to Control Panel, and put his stud fee to 0 hbs.

  • That he is still for public breeding. To remove it go to his control panel and put 0 in the breeding fee box and enter :)

  • That's because the previous owner put him up for public stud. If you don't want him up for public breeding or you want to change the price, you can do so on his control panel. Just delete the number in the box with the Set Breeding Fee button and click the button to remove him from public breeding. Or change the number and click the button to use a new price.
  • You need to go to his Control Panel page and in the Set Breeding Fee box enter a 0. The Control Panel box will continue to show the former price, but will take the button off his main page. That's so you can tell what the fee was the last time he was up for stud.

  • would he be good to be put up for stud, would people want to use him? but at a lower price and how would i go about it.
  • He does have white M, which is only able to be on a horse if it is gmted on or a parent has it. He would be used by that alone, but I don't know how much he should be put up.

  • Personally, I would not breed to a B papered third generation stallion since I expect stallions to be A papered by gen 3, but that's just me. If you put this stallion up for public breeding for a reasonable fee, you will definitely have people breed to him since he has white M and some people will be willing to sacrifice a bit of quality in exchange for fancy rare colors.
  • But aren't reds fine at gen 3? If not, then I have to get rid of my entire 3gen herd! The advice I remember reading about is if you don't have enough blues to replace them at gen 3, reds are fine.

  • There's no one rule about what paper level you need at what generation it just depends on what you want to do. I tend to be pretty ruthless about snipping horses (I've been snipping 2G horses from B X Red exceptional parents if they don't paper Blue or A) so I end up with a lot of pretty show ponies lol.

Also, a lot of people will hold stallions to a higher quality standard then mares since you don't need nearly as many stallions as mares so you can afford to be a lot more strict with them.
  • @obsidian

First and foremost, you should breed however you want to, regardless of what someone has told you on the forum!

My personal goal is to breed the highest possible quality horses at each generation. The only way you get to do this is to constantly re-evaluate and improve your stock. For me what this means is I'm quite strict with my stallions and expect them to paper and compare up to my standards. I'm more lenient with my mares up until the point where I have enough meeting higher standards to enforce said high standards. I plan to breed red mares at gen 3 until I have enough blue mares to justify getting rid of all the Reds. The Reds I breed up until that point will still have to meet my standards for AFPT score.

In my personal opinion, the only way you improve your herd is to breed it. If you don't have any A gen 3s yet and your gen 3 boys compare Superior to your gen 2s, then breed them. If you have A gen 3s, I personally would cull your Bs because you know they aren't really helping you improve your herd as much. But that's just how I would manage your herd if they were mine. That shouldn't stop you from breeding however you want to! It's a game, and at the end of the day the point is for you to have fun!
  • Exactly! When I said that I wouldn't breed to a gen 3 B papered stud, that's just me personally because I have some A papered studs already. What I meant to say is that wendolyne's stallion probably isn't worth a really high breeding fee since he's only B papered at gen 3. I would think that a modest breeding fee of several hundred hbs or less would be appropriate since he has some rare genes but he isn't the best quality for his generation. He's not worth the really expensive breeding fees that you see on foundation white M stallions.
