What went wrong?

So I had 2 exceptional producers in my pasture and I bred them together and my resulting colt got gelded by the breeding advice. I thought since both the sire and dam are exceptional producers I would be able to have an intact foal.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with this

Both horses are same quality and have a chance of having better foals, but that means the foal has to be better than normal foals to be left intact. There is always a level of chance.
-
First things first: How long was your mare in pasture?
Second thing: Exceptional Producers have 105% breedability, compared to a PF/TNP 100% breedability. This makes them a low/mid B, so essentially a 2nd Gen horse. Breeding them together does increase the chances of them producing an intact foal, however they have the same chances of producing an altered offspring as any other horse.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Exceptional Producers are 5% better Breeders than the best that a regular foundation can be. Top foals from an ExPro x ExPro pairing will be better than anything you could breed from a regular foundation cross. But breeding 2 ExPros still gives you the same possible range of breeding and showing abilities of any cross--in that the foal may be much worse than, a little worse than, roughly the same as, a little better than, or much better than their parents. As a result, just like in every other breeding, some foals will be snipped by basic testing.
Its frustrating, but that's the way it goes. Putting mares in pastures to gain the show bonus and breeding them to stallions with similar breeding ability is the only way to increase your chances of intact foals, but even then you will get some that get snipped. Remember the HJ mantra--there's Always Next Season!!! -
@obsidian My mare was not left in there for long at all so she didn't get the pasture bonus. What chance is there that an altered offspring horse is produced?

And thanks @Cheers

@GreenAcres I don't know the chance, sadly. I'll post a link to one of Ammits posts about breeding pasture vs not, and in the first example (same breedability, which is the only one you need to look at for this case) 12 out of 50 foals were intact by breeding in the barn. In the pasture, it went up to 34 intact out of 50.
So if you really really want a foal from a mare to be intact, best to throw her in the pasture to collect all of the bonus that she can before breeding.

Don't feel bad this season has been by far the worst for me since I have been playing I can't get foals I'm totally in love with. Last year and they year before I got 15 foals each season that were my favorite but this year sadly nothing I like but hey there is always next year :D
