Passed BA?
  • I accidentally got some 1G mares in with my 2G "A" stud (planning on auctioning them and foals anyway), and was going through the pasture sorting out keep/reject. And I discovered this little guy This little guy passed BA, son of an A stud, and a foundation mare! With no pasture bonus!

Which brings up my question, and follow up question? How did this happen? How is BA calculated (I always guessed better than the average of the two parents but IDK)? And how is BA different than SBA (I always guessed better than both parents but I don't really know that either)

And of course I don't have the $ to even see what he is papered. Does this mean I should be keeping his momma? Lol, she is pretty.

Edit: Just noticed she was my r4 from a couple days ago, but still.

  • BA I believe means the horse is either slightly worse, aga or slightly better than both parents. This foal is obviously better than his foundation mother, but may be slightly worse than his A parent, but close enough in quality to make it through.

SBA is like BA, but stricter xD I think it gets rid of the slightly worse, or something but it does raise the bar of quality that gets through.

Both horses must have thrown to the top end of their quality to produce such a foal, though. Or at least the foundation mare did.

  • Oh ok, that makes sense. I found another one! The mare is not r4 (she is r3), and they stud is the 2G B stud I had in the pasture. This foal isn't as cute though

The weird thing is, 95% of the 2G-2G that was supposed to be happening from this pasture is getting altered.

  • Maybe that's evidence that my 2G "B" stud isn't very high quality (its his first foal crop and I'm trying it out) or luck of the draw? Although theres still the fact that the rest of the pasture is mostly being altered.

  • More weird things are happening in this pasture... My "A" studs AFPT jumped from 10.48 -> 10.63. I did not PT test any more of his foals. Does it calculate some stuff automatically? The other day I had a mare who only had 1 foal, whom had no PT testing and it said her AFPT was 10.7. (I meant to PT test her foal this morning) If it does it automatically why does it not show an AFPT for the other stud?

  • Did you send your A stallion's lower PT foals to the auction? If you did and they were deleted from the game, that would explain why his AFPT went up. As for an AFPT showing up on a mare whose foal wasn't tested, I have no idea.

You're statements about the rank of the herd helpers of some of your mares leads me to believe that you may be under a mistaken impression that higher rank HH produce horses that are better breeders. This is not the case, the only HHs which effect the breeding ability are Top Notch Producers, Perfect Foundations, Exceptional Producers (including the ones that also specify a color or pattern), Exceptionally Perfect, and all rank specials (which are either perfect foundations or exceptionals). All the other HHs produce horses with random breeding ability and you have as good a chance of a perfect foundation from a rank 1 as a rank 5. The higher rank color HHs just have the rarer colors and/or patterns.

  • Normally yes, but this is the first time in 2 months I've bred him. Oh ok someone mistakenly told me months ago that R 4,5 are the equivalents of an RS. That makes it even crazier that 2 passed though! Now way I got 2 100% breeding ability with the 6 foundie mares I accidentally got in there.

Thanks for your help both of you! Kinda excited this happened though. Still don't want to breed unevenly though.

  • So cool! If you still have your good quality uneven foals and they are intact but you were planning on selling or snipping them I will take them. I find uneven mares give the best of pasture foals.
  • Their both studs ;(. But I really don't think I would like to keep the 2nd one. Not flashy enough for me. Still thinking on the first one. But if you are still interested in one/both that would be great!
