Difference between Sooty and Sooty+
-
What's the difference between Sooty+ and regular Sooty? I know they are both darkening genes but what does Sooty+ do that regular Sooty doesn't? I haven't noticed much of a difference in appearance between horses that have Sooty+ and horses that just have regular Sooty, but maybe I haven't been looking at the right Sooty+ horses.
I recently bought a 2G hom snowflake colt and I noticed that his sire has Sooty+. The colt didn't get his sire's copy but I could GMT it onto him for one token. Would that be worth it? I'm just trying to figure out what difference Sooty+ could make for him.

Sooty+ gives a beautiful dappled effect. It's one of my favorite genes in the game, which is why I put it on Deus and a lot of my other stallions. Can't get enough dapples in my book!
-
Technically it wouldn't show much on him, since he's classic (black) champagne and generally sooty effects don't show up on black pigments, because they're already dark enough. On his foals, though, if you need him with a kind of bay or got a chestnut out of him, then you would get a really cool mottling around their barrels, if they happened to also get the Sooty+. You can find examples in the search...I would post something, but it's harder on my phone. :)
-
Here's an example of a Brown horse with and without S+ so you can see the effect of the dappling :)

Actually, Rose, S+ shows up really beautifully as amazing dappling on blacks too. In fact I think it's prettiest on blacks, classic Champagnes and chocolate palomino personally. However since he's Snowflake it may not make sense to put it on him since he will white out soon.
-
Oh that's really neat looking! Mottling is a good way to describe it versus the dapples that you can sometimes get with regular sooty. I had forgotten about my colt whiting out because of the snowflake though. How long does that generally take before snowflakes turn completely white?
-
I think Deus was pretty white at 10
-
If you like the effect of Sooty+, then I would GMT it onto him so he has the chance to pass it onto his babies :D I absolutely adore horses with S+ :xAztecArabians

In the advanced facilities, go to gene mod treatment. I will tell you the gmt prices there :)

Unfortunately can't spend real money. Just wanted to know if it HAS to be purchased or if I can buy/breed for it.#28036
-
If you want to GMT it onto a lined horse that missed getting it, then it only costs 1 GMT. All genes for lined horses only cost 1 GMT, even the ones like kit m and satin that cost a lot of GMTs for a foundation. You can only GMT a gene onto a lined horse if its sire or dam had that gene but failed to pass it on to the foal.
-
You are able to buy or breed from it if someone has a stud or mare available :)●▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●

You can buy GMTs with hbs as well instead of real money. 1 GMT costs 20 IVs which equals 250k hbs. Expensive but doable, especially for stables that have a huge bonus every day. Some of the people who've been playing for years earn more than that every day in show bonus.

I'm saving game money to hopefully get an upgraded account, since I'm only a free one currently.
Thank you paradise, I might see if I can find a stud next season. :)#28036 -
Haltanny, I have some nice S+ horses I will sell you for an affordable price. Send me a PM if you're interested!

When Sooty+ was first introduced, we found that it was most noticeable on horses with a dilute gene. Since Ammit has been upgrading the colors with the new image generator, I'm not sure whether that remains true for this variant of Sooty, but at one time it definitely was.

I tried to find dilutes that express the sooty+ but I don't have "full sets" so I'll use my chestnuts instead.
I tried to get ones that have very simular genotypes

Hope this helps :) I have ones with DP as well if you'd like to see them. Hope this helps you see how it affects the color of the horse----

The horse search is your friend! You can search by either colour, or club too. I put "liver" in the club slot, so every horse with dp entered in that club would show up, and put "must have S+". Entered, and got about 21 pages worth. This horse is double S+ and liver.

. . . I have only hust realised that S+ and those other dapples aren't the same thing. I could have sworn they were! But alas, they are not. Oh well, back to the drawing board :|
-
Nah, S+ dapples aren't the same as sty/dp dapples. To me they remind me of the old west and outlaws. Don't know why but whenever I see a sooty+ that's what I imagine :\">----
