She has straws.

There are three ways to do this.

One is to buy in fillies with the genes you want from others breeding those colors and patterns. This takes work to find foals and mares that have the genes you are looking for, especially if people are selling horses that aren't color tested or aren't named such that you can easily determine generation.

Another is to start a line specifically to supply the fillies you need. You will want to scour the sales for tobiano and rabicano foundation mares and you will want to get or create a stallion that is homozygous for both. (Or use your Dancer straws, but remember your cull rate for straw use will be 50% or more).

A third is to take a general look at all of your intact Breeders and pull from other lines to boost the numbers that have the genes you are looking for. If you have tobi or rab in another line, pull those fillies in. If you have a colt that carries one or the other gene and can be GMTd to carry both, or to carry two copies and you can afford the GMTs, add them to him.

It's really difficult, in my opinion, to create a line that is both super strict in quality and also sticks really closely to a color and pattern plan. It's easier if you start a line planning to be strict because you can set yourself up to succeed by making sure all of your mares have some or all of the characteristics you want.

I thought straws don't expire unless you set a date for that?

Straws never expire unless you set them to.

Really I did not know that! Thanks! I thought the 5 at the end meant that they expire in 5 years if you didn't set a date.

And I think you could change gender for that horse if you wanted to since it's only 2. Not sure if it'd be worth it though, I didn't notice that stallion was only B papered when I posted him.

ColorGood also owns this Blue Roan Tobiano Rabicano 2G mare from your stallion. She made a forum post recently about wanting to cut back/cull some of her horses so she might be willing to sell or sell straws/eggs if you ask.

I have a tobiano rabicano mare, that I would let you breed to for the next few seasons if you wanted. if you decide to go that path. She's produced a Blue papered before.

I also still have my halloween daughter,. I love her dearly and she has a forever home (I love the tobiano rabicanos) but if you wanted her back/ "lease" her/ breed to her etc let me know. (LOL just realized that'd mean she'd come back to you a 3rd time)
