Pasture time
  • If you accidentally remove a mare from the pasture does she keep her time served if you put her back the same day?
  • No - or she shouldn't anyway. If it has then it's a bug.
  • If you move a mare from one of your pastures directly to a different one of your pastures (without putting her in your barn) does she still keep her days in pasture count? I want to move all my frame foundation mares into the same pasture because I don't want any of them breeding to my frame foundation stud and getting dead foals.
  • You can move mares between pastures without losing the bonus - I do so on a regular basis! I have a large holding pasture where I keep all the mares. Then, I move them in groups to an empty one, based on the stallion I plan on breeding them to!
  • You can shift them from pasture to pasture without them losing days, it's just if they're taken out at any point.

    Oops same time post
  • I'm pretty sure you can take them out of a pasture and put them in a barn, they'll keep their bonus until daily rollover.
  • I think not losing the bonus was a bug. I've accidentally removed a mare from a pasture and moved them back in within 30 seconds but still lost the bonus.

    She was a sad mare.
  • Thanks everyone! I'm hoping I can get some really nice pasture foals this season. Am I correct in assuming that I still get the pasture bonus even if my stallions don't live there? I keep them in my barns and pull straws from some of them so I'm planning on sticking them in my pasture, clicking breed all, and then taking them back out.
  • You're correct! Stallions don't gain or contribute to pasture bonus - just the mare. So, you're better off keeping them in your barn, showing them and just putting them in the pasture when you're ready to breed.
  • This thread is awesome! It helped me so much! Thanks guys!

  • What is the bonus? Just curious? Still learning new things
  • The best way I've seen it explained is this:

Your mares can produce foals over a range of possible qualities based on her hidden breeding ability score. For every day she lives in the pasture, a slider covers up a little bit of the bottom range of her ability until she's been there for 30 days and only the area at the top of her range is left for her to produce foals from.

Now obviously your stallion is still producing from his full range, but generally your foals will be of higher quality than if your mares were also throwing from their low range and you are more likely to have foals that pass their testing intact as well.
