GMT questions/help
-
I'm making almost 18,000 a day in show bonus and thought that I was finally in a comfortable place to start thinking about GMTing some foundations.
I haven't decided what path I'd like to take exactly but I do know I want leopard appaloosa to be more prominent in my herd. It's something I've always wanted to breed for and seems easy enough to GMT...except I have o my a small idea which alleles and patterns are responsible for full leopards
So my first question is what alleles need to be i lime for a leopard coat?
Homozygous PATN1 right? (As well as atleast het Llp)
My second is about a potential "project"
I want to GMT my RS stallion that j got today
f CG Ultimate Sacrifice
EE AA CC dd gg ff SS pp KitKitto SpSps LLlp ECA3P+ ECA3P+ WF: Minimal-Mosaic
The minimal amount of GMTing I'd like to do for him is simply turning him leopard. But ideally (funds permitting) I'd like to turn him into something a but more flashy
such as turning him brown or chestnut instead of bay, adding him sooty, leopard, pangere, and maybe roan or him tobiano----

Leopards are usually homozygous for Patn 1. Horses that are homozygous for Lp are usually "few spot" appys. So your best chance for leopards or near leopards is to get L Lp Patn1 Patn1 appys.
Lp costs 2 GMT tokens while Patn1 costs 1 or allele.
Sacrifice already has a fairly extensive blanket for a horse without any Patn1, so you might find that just adding one will give you a near leopard.
If he was mine to play with and I had a medium amount of hbs to work with I would go one of two directions with him personally.
I would add double sooty and double DP to make him a super deep dark bay, leaving his patterns as is.
Or
I would add a copy of another Kit pattern, probably Tobiano but possibly a White or Sabino (depending on my budget) and two copies of KP to make him a foundation KP stallion for me.
But that's just what I would do with him, not by any means should you let my opinion sway what you do with your horse! He's gorgeous as is, and GMTs are way too expensive to spend them for something you don't love.
Please do remember that every time you play with an allele, he will be rerolled. If all you did was mess with sooty, he still might come out with a completely different look to his patterns. -
Have you done a search for leopard appys and tried to figure out the genetics you like? I am DISMAL when it comes to appy genes, but that's what I've done in the past.

@Cheers I thought about adding him DP and sooty as well as doing KP and/or pearl but I think that would be to expensive (unless I got some cold hard cash involved) I'm wanting to start small to keep a budget as well as get a feel for GMTing. I've only ever GMTed one other horse before and all I did was remove grey (something I now regret, wish I would have saved it. But all well we live and learn)
I know a leopard stars and stripes isn't that uncommon which is why I thought about chanhingbhim to a chestnut, not to mention I'm a die hard for chestnut brindle and have always wanted one.
@Confluence I did! I used my own leopard stock to sort of look at the one repeating allele which was patn 1, haven't looked at my few spots or my large spot leopards yet----

I'm leaning on adding homo KP to my stallion but that is only because he already has two Kit genes that way I can use him as my own KP herd stallion. If you want a leopard app I would start with just adding one Patn1 gene to him and see if you want more from there. If you add another Lp to him you will just get a large white blanket and no spots. Here are a few of my Leo boys. You can see their genes and how it has effected their pattern and they diversity among them

Just remember that you can only GMT horses that are 4 or younger with no foals. If you are restricting yourself to using only game money for GMTs, you may not want to do a huge GMT project with him because you might not have time to finish before he's too old since he's about to turn 3.

FJ I love your two microdot boys. I can never decide if I like the microdots more than the big splotchy spots...but your Harley Quinne may be one of my favorite appys in the game! Gotta love a true leopard!Thanked by 1fj1482

Yeah, I was a little excited when he showed up. I'm not sure if I like the micro dots or the big dots better either that's why I have so many boys to choose from lol
