My 2 A papered boys?
-
2g Far Sight is about as good as Cutters Snow 2g
So how do I know who is better. Cutters Snow is out of RS horses. Far Sight isn't. I wanted one to compare against my 2g B papered boys. -
Well they're as good as each other so by that logic you could compare 2g B papered foals to either and it wouldn't make a difference. I have 3 A papered 2nd gens all as good as each other so I just compare to a whichever one is at the top of the list.

And hope this doesn't burst your Bubble, Best, but Far Sight's Mother is an Exceptionally perfect, so the quality of his parents is the same as cutter's snow. :)
-
Ok so who is better if you all had them
-
I'd say quality is probably the same. I would say that Far Sight is better if I had him simply because his coloring goes more with what I breed for, but the other one's height is gorgeous. Maybe you can use them in two different lines or put them both in the same pasture for genetic diversity.
-
You could try comparison testing them to a 3g A boy and see if you get different results from that, but that means comparison testing.
-
My problem is right now I only have 1 blue papered 2g mare.
-
Far Sight is consistent and Cutters Snow is inconsistent, if that makes a difference to you. Cutters Snow is 5 and he is too old to GMT consistent, so at this point there's nothing you can do about his inconsistency. Personally, I would either keep them both and compare their AFPT after they've each produced some foals, or if inconsistency bothers you I would sell Cutters Snow to someone who wants a 2G A papered stud and doesn't mind inconsistency.
Keep in mind that you've bred to Far Sight 37 times this year but you've only bred to Cutters Snow 1 time, so you seem to be a lot more interested in Far Sight. Even if Cutters Snow turns out to have slightly superior breeding ability, would you want to use him instead of Far Sight or would you still like Far Sight better? They're both 2G A papered so they're both an improvement on their parents, especially since one is from a C x Red pairing and the other is from a B x Yellow pairing.
