Took Some Advice
  • I've been stalking some threads and someone asked what a 2g "A" colt would be worth. @Cheers suggested keeping the foal and using him to compare other "B" colts to and keeping the ones that are AGA. So, I went out and bought an "A" colt to do just this!

I'm actually happy that a few of my 2G colts came up as AGA so far. It's really helping me cull my 2G colts. I'm almost done with my first line. I have some big decisions to make on some of the ones who is "worse than".

    Here is the "tester":

  • You're off to a better start than I am and I've been playing for almost 2 years :-))
I always forget we have the comparison testing (I've only used it 3 times, maybe) so I have Colts out the donkey. Have so many 2nd and 3rd gen colts/stallions that's I'm pretty sure my mares are out numbered.
Your tester colt is rather handsome as well, love the name too

  • Oh Dee I'm thrilled you are going down this path! I had an A gen 2 stallion back before the winter festival released a new wave of ExP horses into the game. He was my benchmark for my gen 2 line and also all my gen 3 As had to be better than him, so he set me up very early to have really high quality colts and also they weeded out my mare herd too--lesser mares couldn't get intact foals with my boys.

He is super cute too! Good luck with this!
  • This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. :)
  • Thanks guys! I really want to move forward and have good breeding stock. I've completed my first line and had some colts left over. I'm going to start my second line today.

One thing that stinks is both my only Het KP colt AND my only Het Snowflake colt were worse. I'm not sure what I'm going to do :/

  • @RedDeeFarms I would say to keep your kp and snowflake lines separate. If you get a stallion who tests better than his current counterpart, great! If not, just keep the two lines separate and continue on with papering and breeding advice.

  • Plus both the Snowflake an KP colts are better than their sires, so for starting a line out they should be sufficient. Those lines might not progress quite as quickly then the AGA colts, but there is still improvement on the previous generation. Or that's my understanding of it anyway
  • So compare them with B papered colts? I may just do that. I guess I need to test my 2 A papered colts first to see who is better?
  • Dee--I went back and forth on inferior stallions from expensive lines. Initially, I kept and used the best I had even if they were inferior. As I got further into the game and had more horses than I knew what to do with, I was super hard nosed about culling all inferior stallions. I would definitely plan to keep your current guy's but try to replace them soon. If it works, that's awesome, but sometimes the colt fairy doesn't smile on you!
  • :-< The colt fairy absolutely hates my Liver line. There wasn't a single 2g colt that was AGA my tester. I'll keep them for now and hope my 2nd try at 2g will be better next season. I got some new 1g stallions, so we'll see.
