is this mare hom or het DP?
-
Is this mare hom or het DP? I added DP to her but am wondering if she already had the other copy and she is liver so I don't know lol

If she had SstySsty, and you added a DP, and she is liver, then she only has the 1 DP you added. If she had 2 DPs she would be black liver.
-
I don't see how she's liver with 2 copies of sty. And 1 DP but is het DP..so if I added another DP she would be hom DP and black liver?
-
Livers can only occur with at least three darkening alleles. Meaning either two copies of sty and one of DP, or one sty and two DP.
One DP means she is heterozygous for Dense Pheomelanin - a horse can only be homozygous for a gene if they possess both genes. She only has one.
Yes, if you added another DP she would be black liver (all four copies of the darkening alleles). But I don't believe you will be able to, as her mother does not look to have any copies of DP.AztecArabians
