Boosting paper score?
  • I just got the cutest little colt but he's C papered and I'm aiming to only keep B papered 2nd gens. Would buying a boost token for him bump him to a B or is it more luck or the draw?

  • If you test him against his sire and against a B papered 2g, it might give you more of an idea where he stands. If he is worse than his sire, I wouldn't bother because he would probably need a significant boost to get him to paper higher.

  • Thank you! I don't own his sire but he tested poorly against one of my other boys.. Guess he's gonna be a girl.
  • Now wait a minute, just because he'll pass tests (maybe) as a filly doesn't mean he'll be any better. Ideally, you want your stock to be equal quality when breeding them together, and if they're too far off, the foals will be snipped. If you GMT him to a filly, she'll only be yellow, so you'd have to breed to either low 2gs or foundations to get anything that passes a test. :)
  • Ergh true. He's just too pretty. I might keep him around as a pretty face. Decisions, decisions.
  • He doesn't have a dismal PT score. If you have room and are in love with his color, I would snip him and keep him as a show pony.
  • Also with the new testing system foals are tested against BOTH parents, not just the same gendered one.
