    8g Pale Niquel

This is a son from Niquel. What did I do wrong here?
  • How do I boost him?
  • You have to unalter him first. Then buy boost tokens and pray! :|

  • Awe I'm sorry. Yea what Goobanni said you have to unaltered then boost
  • Can you buy with game money?
  • No, they have to be purchased with real money. You didn't do anything wrong, even with a strong match there is a roughly 50/50 chance the horse will be altered. It was just a bad roll of the dice. Try again next year.
  • I am going to. I just have to buy some more eggs. That makes me feel better that they matched well. I will definitely try again.
  • But why? Most of your horses are foundations or second gen horses. You do seem to have the start of some nice lines. Why would you want to spend so many horse bucks buying eggs and doing embryo transfer on an 8th gen horse? Unless you want a nice high quality stud to breed with foundations to get a ton of nice show babies? But you could just buy a stud for that purpose. Like I told some other new folks, doing onesy twosy breedings, especially at higher gens with horses you don't know well, is going to result in a lot of altered horses. You are better off bringing up your own lines and getting to know them. You can always add a colorful stud here and there later on. Save your HB's. Stick to your current foundation and 2G lines.

  • Right now I have Niquel. I am wanting a filly or colt from him. I do work on my main lines. I have always been fascinated by him and am trying to get a nice foal. I am doing this out of my own satisfaction than anything. I have thought about getting some nice show ponies from him but I try not to breed unevenly.
  • Dark star makes a good point. I would make sure you save a BUNCH of straws from him, so that when your 'homebred' lines get up to those higher generations you can use the straws on them!

  • Didn't think about that. That makes sense. I will do that instead. Build up to those. Thanks everyone.
