The higher the rank the more rare the color(s), color combinations or abilities. Rank 1 could be bay, chestnut, black, etc. Great Show Horses is Rank 1, Top Notch Producers are Rank 3. Different combinations of colors have different ranks. Black Appaloosa Rabicano is Rank 4, Blue Roan Splash is Rank3.

The highest rank is Rank 6, also known as Rank Specials. Rank Specials (RS) are gifts from Ammit to celebrate different events, everything from her wedding (White Wedding) to Halloween (Trick or Treat) to Friday the Thirteenth (Freaky Friday).

Which one is the "best" depends. I like Dark Chestnut because you can occasionally get a liver chestnut, but it is only Rank 1. The abilities HHs are darned good (Great Show horses, Perfect Foundations, Top Notch Producers, etc) as well, but most people like the Rank Specials. The Diamond Age was a rank special that was only given out once and will never be available again, so it's pretty rare, but not everybody appreciates the color combinations. So the whole thing is pretty subjective!
